Termites

Subterranean termites are formidable pests that are difficult to treat and control. They develop massive underground colonies that spread like wildfire. Reproductives swarm in the spring, and workers stay busy constructing mud tubes that direct millions of cellulose-eating bugs to new food sources, including your home. Subterranean termites cause more than $3 billion of structural damage each year. Experts estimate that these bugs damage more homes than all natural disasters combined.

Unfortunately, most homeowners don't realize that they have a termite problem until the bugs swarm. Warm indoor temperatures excite termites and can even cause them to swarm in the winter. Because many termite infestations go unnoticed, it's important to have regular inspections. Our licensed termite and structural pest experts have the knowledge, tools and appropriate insecticides to treat the problem.

Termite Treatment Options

Subterranean termite infestations can be treated several ways. Soil treatments are the most common. These involve treating soil around the perimeter of affected buildings and nearby structures. For maximum effectiveness, we drill under foundations, concrete slabs and patios to reach colonies in these otherwise inaccessible locations.

Self-contained bait stations installed below the ground are another popular option. These systems contain chemicals that prevent the termites from molting and continuing their lifecycle. As workers consume the bait and die, the colony gradually collapses.

Our pest control experts can also seal and cover cracks, crevices and vents that allow termites to gain entry. Moisture levels, drainage problems and vapor barriers are other things that we assess to lower the chance of a recurrence.
